what book are you reading atm?

i'm almost finished with rules of attraction by bret easton ellis. .
i want to read either less than zero or sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs eventually.

the Idiot - by Dostojevski, it is not as difficult as many think but he really is a genious (but long, about 850 pages)

"Less Than Zero." it's a frivolous story about shallow rich coke heads disguised as relevant commentary on alienation. If you're gonna read Brett Easton Ellis pick yourself up "American Psycho"

@Je-suis-scott: really you found it interesting? i found it read like a messianic monologue spouted by a bitter tweeker. it's way too long & the syntax gives the impression of an uneducated child. there are much better "controversial" books out there IMO.

Currently i'm reading:
"American Lion" an Andrew Jackson Bio which is excellent.
"Tag" a graphic novel that at it's core is hopeful but surrounded by layers of revenge, alienation & the macabre.
&
re-reading "Desolation Angels" Kerouac's best book IMO, much better than "On The Road"

too late. i already started it.
it's not that bad. i do get the shallow rich coke heads though. i'm mostly reading it because i liked rules of attraction, and i like his writing, so i decided to try the first book he wrote.

oh well i tried. i had to read it freshman year of college. i was the only one in the class who gave it a scathing review. everyone seems to like, well what's done is done :P. but you really should pick up "American Psycho" brutal brutal subject matter written about so eloquently & lucidly, making it so terribly unsettling, to say the least.

"One Trillion Dollar" by Eschbach. If you want to have a short, simple introduction in the process of global economy and the ethics in that relation, read it. I'm not sure, but i think the english version with this title exists.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik, even better than the movie.

I just finished Dorian Gray too. I'd agree with the "interesting" comment. I read it because I'm a big fan of his plays but Dorian Gray is certainly very different from the rest of his work.

Just read down and out in paris and london by george orwell. Good one,alot different then his other books but i recommend it and also animal farm and 1984 of course.

I'm reading everything that Haruki Murakami has ever written because I went to the library and after searching in vain for books that I wanted to read (they had NO Bukowski at all) pretty much everything by him that I hadn't read yet was there. Right now I'm on "After Dark." I just finished reading "the United States of Wal-Mart" and "Survival of the Prettiest: the Science of Beauty" because my sister pointed them out and I thought they looked interesting enough. Next, I'm looking forward to reading a book called "Vegan Freak".

@Flipgasic: I just finished re-reading 1984 out of boredom when I owed the library $30 in fines. Isn't he great?
