Welcome.
Should we worry about the end of the world?
Astronomers will tell you that the sun in a few billion years, will become a mega fireplace and broil Earth. Scenarios like Grey goo are so scary it should be NC-17 rated. A combination of threats could send us spiralling in to a heartbreaking end to the world as we know it. Doomsday Clock is 6 minutes to midnight.

Peace and science is crucial if we want to to survive and save the Blue Marble for as long as possible. Science fiction comes to life every day. Any conceivable gadget that does not break the laws of physics can hypothetically be created. Flying was fiction once. A hundred years ago your mobile phone would have been a piece of magic. There is no natural law saying humanoids two billion years from now can't have red giant-themed space orbit barbecue parties.
The future carry a big bag of bugaboos:
Man made:
Overconsumption, overfishing, overpopulation, water and farmland shortage, pollution, greenhouse gasses, deforestation, extinction of species, loss of biodiversity, economic collapse, growing income gap, mass migrations, political and religious extremism, terrorism, nuclear/chemical/biological warfare, pandemics, Grey goo, A.I. uprising, doomsday device.
Mother nature:
Mega disasters, supervolcanoes, flood basalt, climate change, plate tectonics, extinction event, irreversible greenhouse effect,
Chilling space:
Earth-Moon relationship, cosmic impact, space weather, gamma ray bursts, dying earth, harmful life forms, passing black hole, supernova, mortal Universe.
Many of these issues will be horrific front-page news some diddly darn day, and yet they are largely ignored. In all fairness, lack of awareness should not be one of many reasons not to worry about doomsday. I this stuff offends you, or you just don't care, it could be anger or denial. Anyhow, you are welcome to join this Teotwawki acceptance and resolution group.
Buckle up and have a peaceful day!
"Well, it would've been, could've been worse than you would ever know
Oh, the dashboard melted, but we still have the radio"
