The wiki is for factual descriptions of the artist only." - It's absolutely imperative that wiki's remain factual, accurate, publicly known information.

Erkan-Yilmaz @IRONICtypo: examples? are these registered users? how about writing them and say something like: wiki edits need to be licenced under: cc by sa AND gfdl since this permission is missing (I guess most of the times it will be), it must be deleted and our lawyer is contacting your lawyer right now :-)

not to sound like a broken record (how appropriate!) but seeing as how we *are* the wiki improvement group, couldn't we make a formal group request to the staff to put in a decent set of bbcode buttons (plus all the special ones) to make life easier for wiki editors? it's so ridiculous to have to draft/edit wikis in a journal or forum page (because they have the buttons and wiki pages don't!) and then copy/paste them onto the wiki page. i don't think it's too much to ask?

Yes, I've suggested birthdate, birthplace, etc. for solo artists in the past, but it was ignored, probably because the system can't tell whether an artist is a group or a person. I support the use of those band markups in solo artist wikis :D

this thing about placeformed, yearformed, yearsplit etc - it applies only to artist groups right? not solo artists? just want to be clear. some wikis i've come across have placeformed tagged to place of birth(!), yearformed as the year a solo artist's career took off, so to speak, and... yearsplit as the year the artist died! i hope i did not assume wrongly.

I've submitted a query to the forums since there's a problem with the [placeformed] tags (among other things, a glitch is causing the wiki for a band from Akron, Ohio is proclaiming they're from "Cleveland, United States")

Hi, All! I'm the new co-leader! please message me if you need anything. Currently, i'm in the middle of adding the new yearformed, yearsplit and placeformed tags to as many wikis as I can. Whenever i'm on the site, i'm usually available.

I believe staffs won't tell us specifically why a user was banned. Anyway I tried to play around with tag wiki by writing better than radiohead wiki :D

nDroae First album wiki: End Of An Era! Now if only we could [i]add[/i] albums (Martin Kiszko)... and it'd be nice to have journaling tools under the wiki box, so I wouldn't have to compose everything in a journal box to link stuff.

Thanks for the comment, amodern_man. I took a look at Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia's bio revision history. I personally have no problems with writing style variations such as "XXX is a band from UK" and "Hailing from UK, XXX is a ...", as long as it isn't against Style Rules. In other words, I do think that there should be no fixed set of standards/templates in writing a wiki. I believe that the purpose of this group is merely to gather people who are interested to give contributions to Last.fm wikis and have discussions with them regarding that matter, and not to force people to write the wikis the way we want it to be ;)

That's caused by the old redirection system, in the past we used to be able to "merge" artists by aliases, but that system has been taken down for some reason, and the old "merge" can't be undone at the moment. We can't do anything about it, even moderators/staff can't fix that, but it has been planned to be fixed in the future. We have to wait ;)

Jatup You can, but it won't do it for Murray. I think the problem is that if you scrobble Dave Murray, last.fm automatically adds it to The Deserts of Träun. Even if you physically type in his name in the, URL it still redirects you to that band. I don't think you can do anything about it, but maybe we could use David instead of Dave.

Yeah, that's not an artist name, but radio shows are usually treated like podcasts "artists", I usually ignore them. They aren't right, nor wrong, just in between. It's like Hillary Rodham Clinton and George W. Bush, we can't label them "incorrect artist", just ignore them. If You play around Last.fm, You'd find many such non-artists, from Microsoft to Windows Vista to last.fm, they shouldn't be considered incorrect artists :D

I got bored with translating Polish artist biographies and fixing multiple artist wikis so I decided to work on incorrect tags. I don't know what to do with this one: Armin van Buuren Presents. It's gaining listens like crazy (amusing how many people listen to that shitty show), but it's not really an artist. Should I just use the Incorrect Tag description, post the red pic and flag the other ones or just let it be?

Because they were invited? xD do You think we should invite some moderators too? some of them are quite active fighting against bad wikis :D at least show them that we want to help a lil' bit :p
