  • My name is Lorrie, I'm 19. Soon to be 20 in April :) I'm living in Aberdeen, SD.....Sadly not WA. I found this under playtime band side of groups and I love riot girl bands and alot of female bands and thought I would join!

    Hi, I'm Claire, 28, living in Staffordshire. I have loved Riot Grrrl bands and other related genres for many years and like to think that I am a feminist. I work in a male dominated area (I teach music technology and production) and would like to get to know others interested in similar music.

    Hey i'm Oubah, I live in Nairobi, Kenya but I was born in the states in Maryland (I move around the world a lot). I spent most of my life in Georgia, I like to call those 4 years the Dark age of my life I absolutely hated it there but I met some really nice people and was introduced to many awsome bands. I play guitar and piano mainly, I also play bass and drums a bit. I was once in a band called "slip and fall" I played drums, and we totally sucked haha. Anyways I joined this group because I want to get to know you all awsome people and I love female fronted bands. :)

    Hello to everyone. I'm John, I live in Florida, and I'm 40. I joined this group because I've worshipped Riot Grrl bands since the very early 90s. I discovered the movement through an article in the second issue of Ray Gun magazine (Dec. 92/Jan. 93), and I began to collect recordings by the artists after that. I love Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, The Red Aunts, Slant 6, Team Dresch, 7 Year Bitch, Lunachicks, Babes in Toyland, L7, Tribe of 8, Bratmobile, The Runaways, The Butchies, Erase Errata, and Le Tigre. I also share a lot of their political beliefs.

    I'm Keeley, 27 from Virginia, US. I listen to a WIDE variety of music, always had an interest in the riot grrl movement. I saw girls heavy into it back in school before I moved..always admired them. Anyways, the past 2 years I've become alot more interested..downloading like crazy and slowly collecting records/cds. Id love to meet some girls, no matter where you live..obviously closer would be great! Hit me up! The bands I find totally kick ass, regret not leaping into it back when these girls were still doing shows. Cheers!

    Hi, my name is Dane. I live in the U.S., in the State of Maine. I just fairly recently discovered Sleater Kinney...and I was HOOKED! I've had favorite Girl Bands such as: The Cranberries, Garbage, Sinead O'Conner, X-Ray Specs,Mazzy Star, and more..
    But after finding Sleater Kinney...I've been digging the Rrrl Bands(Bratmobile, LZ, Bikini Kill, The Murmurs, etc...

    I've always been a Punk...so my other favorite Bandsare: Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Joy Division, Social Distortion, Buzzcocks, etc...

    I play Guitar & sing. Just bought a Home Studio system...and plan to do some recording. Both original songs, and covers.

    Hello! My name is Kristi and I originally grew up in the Seattle area (Washington state). I'm 39 years old and was around for the original riot grrrl movement in Olympia back in the early 90's. I now live in New Jersey and still go to a lot of shows in NYC and Philly. One Jersey band I'd definitely recommend is Screaming Females; I first saw them in a basement in New Brunswick, New Jersey a couple of years ago, and since then, they've become quite popular.

    I hope to meet some interesting people in this group.

    Hello my name is Colin, I'm 22 years old & I'm from the streets, I guess thats what I call home. I found this group listening to the riot grrl band I do videos for, which is Lucid Nation. I've always loved riot grrl, because I guess I'm sort of a feminist male, or as I like to describe it "I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body." I guess thats about it, I'd love to meet more people into the music I'm into, & discover more wonderful music from who I meet. So please feel free to drop me a line, I don't bite.

  • Hello, my name is Blaire. I am 21 years old and I live in the U.S. I guess the first time I heard about Riot Grrl music was when I got into Hole. Some of my other favorites are Babes In Toyland, Bikini Kill, L7, 7 Year Bitch, and the Gits. I always really liked grunge, and that lead me to Hole which lead me to Riot Grrl music. I thought it would be cool to join a group where everyone appreciates Riot Grrl music.

First time I heard about riotgrrl was when I found out about Bikini Kill, then one thing led to another, I've started taking my interest in some subjects and bands, and here I am. I have no idea how I ran into this group, but I'm glad I did, for now.
