• Artist Bio

Are there any plans to add the artist bio to, lets say, the status screen? I think that'd be pretty neat to have, love reading about bands on the PC version of Last.fm. I see that your adding album covers, but was unsure about artist bios.

Great program by the way, I greatly appreciate the hard work you guys put in! :-)

  • The next version features album covers for tracks you play in the radio. Additionally, you'll be able to see artist pics and tags assigned to the artist/track currently playing. However, Pocket Scrobbler will display no additional data when playing tracks offline.

Beside our plans for the next version, I have been thinking a lot about bringing more of the website features to Pocket Scrobbler. What I have in mind is an additional tab allowing you to browse profiles, artists and tracks - preferably online and offline. It could look something like that (note that this is purely conceptual and does not show any actual release build). Pocket Scrobbler would fetch data of your profile and those of your friends/neighbours while synchronizing. You could use the profiles for reference only or as an advanced "radio selection dialog" with easy access to tag/artist/library radios.

In that context, it would be possible to display artist bio etc. after the user tapped an artist in the charts view. Of course all data could be used to illustrate tracks played offline, too.

Beside that idea, we will have to change parts of the user interface in the long term anyway, as there are some unsatisfying redundancies with the status tab displaying data of tracks played offline and the new radio dialog with its features for tracks played online via the radio. It would make more sense to put them together and find a solution to display meta data for offline tracks, too.

However, as much as I like to follow up on those ideas, I have to admit that they aren't fully thought through yet. Thus do not expect to see anything in this direction in the short term, though I really appreciate your posting on this matter as it shows that there is demand in the community for such changes.

    Thanks for your feedback!
