  • More fans of the Ozrics? Great to meet you guys, I only own their 2-disc best of. Before I joined AS, I deleted all my music to make room, but now I'm re-importing an odd variety.

  • If'n you like the Ozrics, give Tortoise a try.

I first saw Ozrics Tentacles supporting qwind in 1989.

Oh and other bands, I will add as well

Peatbog Faeries (esp the album Faerie Stories)
    Shooglenifty

I can't believe nobody has mentioned

    Eat Static
    Shpongle

More on the electronic side than the guitar side like other bands mentioned, but still spacey and awesome.

Check out the French group Priam, they're like a crossover between Porcupine Tree and Ozric Tentacles IMO. Their first album "3 Distances, Irregular Signs" is amongst the trippiest spacerock I've ever heard and very melodic. And (thankfully) fully instrumental as well. I think it's more structured and thematic than Ozric's tend to be...

    The Ruins

Japanese band, really amazing - not for everyone but I love these guys - drums and bass.

    Also, The Molecules, Eskimo

  • Every Ozrics fan should also listen to Here & Now, especially the track 'What You See is What You Are' from the 1978 LP 'Give and Take'. You want to know where the Ozrics got their sound from? The instrumental second half of that track will show you, it's incredible!

Plus the fact that Joie is playing keyboards for them now as well! ;-)

How about Flexitones and Hi-Fi Companions, although not really in the Ozrics style, but worth checking out all the same.

    As for unrelated bands:
    Krom Lek are quite Ozric-like.
Eloy, Nektar & Junior's Eyes are worth a listen too.

I was recommended 'Korai Öröm' and person said you'd probably enjoy them more. I own one of their CDs (so far) and although not bad, still not as good as OT.

    Frank Zappa (some albums,not all)
    Vangelis (his works from 70th.)
Jean Michel Jarre - (albums: Oxygene, Equinoxe, Randez Vous)
    Kraftwerk (albums from 70th)
Tangerine Dream (from 1970 til 1982 all)
    Coil (may be)
Joe Satriani (album "Engines Of Creation" 2000)
    Agitation Free (deutch band,all)
    Ash Ra Temple (deutch band,all)
    some Steven Wilson projects:

    - Porcupine Tree (1989 - 1995, all)
    - Incredible Expanding Mindfuck (also known as I.E.M.) (1996 - 2005,all)
    - Bass Communion (may be some albums, the music here is too slow - like drone or ambient, but also kick mind)
    - No-Man (1992-2008,all) - mix of dream pop,trip-hop,ambient,jazz,alternative rock.It sound very relaxing and emotional deep.Try it!

My opinion is that Ozric,Hawkwind and Gong are the most interesting is this style of psy music.

ok...to expand on what has been mentioned above already, Please Listen to The Peaking Goddess Collective and Master Margherita They are superb, a most excellent eclectic mix of Psychedelic rhythms and organic live instruments. Seriously, if I had permission I would love to see them connected to this group :) :) :) They are inspiring.
