You take the nazis here too serious.

Rather make some jokes about them or spam their profiles with some crap than just running away. I don't think that's a solution.

Defeating them here will only happen with a boycott, so they can no longer appear legit. We have all tried to complain for 3 years now and NOTHING has changed. Seriously. I tried to battle them and it's impossible when the moderators allow the nazis to set up multiple accounts to spam-scrobble nazi music in mass. Real users can NOT compete with that, and the moderators and staff here must be PRO-NAZI because when you complain about it they do NOTHING.

SO AT LEAST DELETE YOU ENTIRE SCROBBLE RECORDS as an act of protest.

This is a PRIVATE SITE not a GOVERNMENT, so the only PROFESSIONAL AND CIVILIZED THING TO DO is have DECENCY STANDARDS. I never asked any GOVERNMENT to put any limits on SPEECH. The nazis can create THEIR OWN WEBSITES to express thier speech. Banning it here is NOT a limit on Free Speech because Last FM is not a government. And besides, who is protecting MY RIGHTS to OWN my Trademarked band name here? NO ONE. THEY HAVE ZERO RESPECT for trademarks. SOmehow that's just fine?

Leave LastFM? Never! :P I haven't really notice such a problem with the Neo-Nazis on here. But boycotting LastFM is not the way to go. I think I saw a Nazi buying groceries at a popular chain. Should I boycott the chain? Perhaps I should boycott buying groceries all together? :)

This idea has a natural progression that is frightening... leave last.fm to the Nazis? It sounds like it would give them more power... I'm not sure I see this effect that you are talking about. It looks to me like the leading artists are Radiohead, Muse, Metallica, Coldplay, Nirvana, and such popular, if not particularly good groups... I was not aware that any of these were Neo-Nazi groups... just popular. I agree with AllyWonderland on this completely on this issue.

Deleting my scrobbles? - I doubt anyone at Last.Fm would give a fuck about it... and hell, I've spend years to reach my amount of scrobbled songs.
Deleting my music from Last.FM? - I doubt that would interrest much people, as I'm just an unknown indie artist.
Deleting myself from Last.Fm? - Are you nuts? I've met some very nice people here. This is better that MySpace and all the other censored PC Web 2.0 thingies. No way.
Grew up. Boycott or censorship isn't changing anything. If you run into some nazis then try to have an argument with them. Thats the only way to change their minds if you have good arguments. If you don't have good arguments, then better leave them alone. They aren't in a majority and seem quiet peacefull here on Last.FM.

I've had my share of "discussions" with the OP of this thread, and I think he is long gone from these parts. So, really, I probably wouldn't pay much more attention to this post or poster, since this "campaign" is quite a bit in the past.

Actually CBS does have a right to ban Nazi's from their site completely. All they have to do is say that they will not tolerate nazi behaviors and that they are not offering free nazi radio as part of their services. It IS their website, they can do as they please. Technically, it wouldn't be discrimination because they would only be banning the actions and behaviors. A nazi could secretly have a last fm if they didn't make a fuss. By participating in the site, which is basically a wikified music recommendation engine, we are moderating the site for CBS. CBS can ban volunteers that are not moderating in a way that matches with their standards. To say that banning them for perpetrating racism is discrimination is like saying that banning people for breaking any other rule is discrimination.

If you look at this website like a bathroom, my proposition goes like this. The nazis can use this bathroom as much as they want as long as they don't leave the seats up. The point where they get kicked out, is when they start posting pages of mein kampf on the bulletin board even though we told them not to.

We all have the right to our own opinions, but CBS doesn't owe us their megaphone.

All that being said, this guy is crazy. There is no way everyone on Lastfm would participate in the boycott and all he would succeed in is making the neofolk scene completely nazi. Which I am beginning to suspect is his real plan, though that theory is unsubstantiated. Anyway, this is a distraction from the purpose of this group, to improve the image of neofolk in the eyes of the world.
