  Wow, I can't believe this. I joined this group because I was sick of metalheads bashing everything that's not metal... And what do I see here? Bashing of hc punk -.- Wikipedia is correct guys. Sludge metal is combination of doom metal and hc punk. Melvins, who are considered to be father of sludge metal started as a hc punk, and with the influence of Black Sabbath, Swans and some other they slowed down their tempo and created that slow sound with hc vocals. Their sound then influenced Neurosis, who also started as a hc punk band, leading them to slow down their tempo and incorporate more doom metal into their sound. Some other hc band accepted this sound, like Eyehategod, Dystopia, Grief... Those band are or were equally doom metal as they are or were hc punk. Just lately bands like Isis, Cult Of Luna, Pelican... started to incorporate post-rock to create more melodic sound, giving birth to post-metal. Post-metal's only connection with hc punk are vocals. Damn 1000 characters limit
