  My musical preference is 48.09% similar to the john peel group. Musically, I do not fit in ... Probably because I'd rather connect Bogshed or Deep Turtle to John Peel than Beatles or Blur.

  "Fades in gently"...a humble and humorous man; the best DJ the British Isles has produced; a man who heavily influenced the way I listened to music. I don't have heroes but if I did John Peel would be at the top of the list.

  I didn't always agree with the music tastes of Peel, but you had to admire his passion for music and his willingness to give any artist a chance. He is sorely missed - especially when you consider that we have to deal with the likes of Zane Lowe and Jo Wiley on Radio 1 nowadays.

  Zut. A casual Google suggests Peel actually said: "If Elvis were alive today, I think he'd really understand happy hardcore." But, i think both statements are probably true.
