    Best/favorite instrumental song... EVER!

Okay, what is the very best instrumental song in your opinion, ever? What song takes the art of being instrumental and absolutely perfects it?

    !!!!

Tentatively I'm going with Dntel "Fear Of Corners." (Fear of Corners)

I might need to add a Mogwai song later!

    Your turn.

And a very, very special mention to Óðin's Raven Magic Chapter 7. So good they made a second.

  • definatly:

    Mogwai Fears Satan- Mogwai.

    such a fantastic song.

*and so ends another pointless comment

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Moya

  • Pelican - Drought/Mammoth
Red Sparowes - Alone and unaware...
    Detwiije - 6 is better than 8
    Mogwai - Superheroes of BMX
Explosions in the Sky - Greet Death
    Halifax Pier - Halifax bound

As you can tell, Its hard to choose.

All the world's in a rush to be beautiful.
  • explosions in the sky- magic hours got me into post-rock, so i'm a little biased towards it, but it's still incredible.

    My Father My King

or Have You Passed Through This Night? - how a song should make me feel

also The Moon Is Down. Eits just seem to make a song about something. Jamie Cullum can fuck off

Edit: I'm listening toSummer (Priority Version) right now, so I should give that a mention too.

Btw, what is up with the last.fm clock?

Edit: Edit: and With Portfolio is cool with the sounds moving. I'm listening to YT right now, as you may have guessed

Edit^3: Maybe we need a 'favourite instrumental album thread', this is too hard!

    Air - Alone in Kyoto
The Album Leaf - The Audio Pool
To Rococo Rot and I-Sound - For a Moment
Rachel's - Water From the Same Source
Simple Minds - Theme for Great Cities (I kid you not - check it out)

Honorable mention to Mogwai's "My Father, My King," just because it's a 20 minute instrumental based on a theme from Jewish liturgy, but really, it's not nearly as good as the ones above.

    currently for me it's
    New Animals From the Air

  • Oh, great delight in Eluvium. I wouldn't be able to select my actual favorite instrumental song, but I would likely place all of An Accidental Memory in Case of Death at the top of my current favorites. My favorites cycle rotates constantly, adding new people all the time and not usually repeating, but I always end up back at Eluvium. Always.

  • four tet - everything is alright,

i think that's my favourite instrumental track, although picking 1 song is really difficult.
this thread is cruel making is choose! :P

i think i can't choose, but one of my fave instrumental song is drudkh's fading-summoning the rain, from the album autumn aurora.

le public aime souffrir par procuration.

Boards of Canada - Dayvan Cowboy

    65daysofstatic - Radio Protector

Pelican - March Into The Sea

    Brian Eno - 1/1

Explosions in the Sky - Have you passed throught this night?

(I'm going to throw this one out here, I don't even know if it remotely counts, but there's something about Danger - Keep Away by Slipknot that feels like a completely different genre from all their other songs, it always sounds like a post-rock song)
