Official "Free Hosting" thread?

Would it be possible to compose a thread of free image/web hosting sites?

I guess I'll start:

Images Only
ImageShack (Registration optional, but allows the tracking of your uploaded images)
Photobucket (Registration required)

Web Hosting
Yahoo! GeoCities
FreeWebs
FreeWebTown

Any others?

I dont know what kind of restrictions these hosts have, and what resources the 'scrobbler stuff requires, maybe someone who runs their own scrobbler sig(s) could enlighten us about what services they use?

ScrobblerSig(THx), for one, requires PHP scripting (not in safe mode), full CHMOD read-write (777), the GD Graphics Library, and FreeType. I think RPI is similar.

I don't think any free image-hosting services support dynamic image signatures at all, and popular free webhosts are right out also.

So there are very few free webhosts that support all that these sigs need, but there are some, which I expect someone will enlighten us on, since I don't recall which they are.

I guess what giveuptheghost says about the free image-hoster is right. They might be ok if you just wanna upload some pics, but they won't work for the ScrobblerSigs.

I don't know FreeWebs and FreeWebtown, and I don't know if Geocities lets you use php and stuff. But I know that Geocities doesn't allow hotlinking. So even if it's possible to host the sigs there, you can't display them in a forum. Only a standard Geocities-picture will be displayed then.

I'm using the free hosting package from 100Webspace for my ScrobblerSigs. And it works very well for me.

Yep, hosting my own here and I can confirm that RPI needs PHP, GD and FreeType, as well as CHMOD 777.

'cause I tried this one my server and it keeps saying "Error recieving 'recently played' tracks". Here's the phpinfo(); of my server: http://kripton.kripserver.net/phpinfo.php

Are there things I need to change at my PHP-Setup?

I second 100 web space. You'll never run out of bandwidth for the free account (1gb/month?) just running a php sig. Even if it was a random image+xml chart sig.

Ok, I was able to fix my problem, set "allow_url_fopen" to "On".

fopen worked but it wasn't allowed to "open" URLs directly (lozzd, you propably know; just to clearify it).
Works now:

hmm, I signed up at 100Webspace. But I can´t view my files I´ve uploaded there. I can see them in the file manager and do with the what I want, but when I try to view them over the Url http://username.coolinc.info/..., I can´t see nothing! Not even the Subfolders! Do they fool me? I mean, I´ve created some subfolders etc. but the index page of my webspace is still empty!

When I type the URL where the files SHOULD be, I´m forwarded to an ad page.

What am I doing wrong?
