    Best movie soundtrack

I see there are a lot of threads about soundtracks, but none about movies.
My two favorites are Lost in Translation and Fear and Loathing i Las Vegas. But i guess there are more, i just can't recall any right now though.

It's a beautiful world we live in / A sweet romantic place

Everything is Illuminated has a great soundtrack. Besides the gypsy punk stuff like Leningrad and Gogol Bordello, it's got an incredibly beautiful score. It's great slavic-sounding folk music, using accordions, violins, pianos, guitars... It's just great stuff.

A few soundtracks that need to be mentioned, imo:

Pulp Fiction, one of the best soundtracks ever
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, very varied stuff, very good
The Girl Next Door, major points for having Sloan. Also James Gang and The Verve.

Garden State, and the classics Dazed & Confused and Empire Records. I admit it, I'm a typical 90's kid.

    Hands down Elizabethtown

It's fucking amaazzzzing. All this great Americana, southern rock, and a few mainstreamers.

Then probably Garden State and Reality Bites

  • The Life Aquatic, I love the idea of David Bowie songs in portugeuse. Mark Mothersbaugh's score is great, and not just for the life aquatic, but for all of Wes Anderson's films. The Sigur Ros song got left out of the soundtrack recording, which is sad.

  • I really dig all of Wes Anderson's soundtracks, although the soundtrack to Harold and Maude will always hold a special place in my heart. Besides that my fav would be the Rushmore soundtrack. It was the first time I had heard "Makin' Time" by the Creation, my favorite song.

My favorite is Vanilla Sky. I started listening to Red House Painters and Radiohead because of it.

Garden State (it actually sort of got me into the indie scene, though Questionable Content is what really did it for me).

And lastly, Empire Records. Just because.

Basically, I bring nothing new to the discussion! :-P

I love that Empire Records is still the coolest thing around... what a classic..

On the music-movie thing, High Fidelity is one of my favourite soundtracks, and The Beat that my Heart Skipped is the soundtrack of the moment.

I'm definitely feeling the Wes Anderson thing too, oh, and Oh Brother Where Art Thou? - random, but i love it.

I'm not a big fan of soundtracks, but High Fidelity is the best one IMO. Next would be Pulp Fiction, and Life Aquatic.

It has to be Garden State for sure

  • It has to be Shaun Of The Dead. It has some great music in it from loads of different genres, like rap to rock to electronica. It's just amazing.

  • I really liked the 'Romeo and Juliet' soundtrack, the recent one.

Hmmm, well both Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino deserve praise for some of the greatest soundtracks ever. However, best and most fitting must be the soundtrack to Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

    Koyaanisqatsi has a fantastic soundtrack.
I'm also quite fond of the soundtrack of Groove, even though that's an entirely different kind (and genre) of soundtrack.
