Overrated metal bands

Seriously, Metallica are overrated as hell
I mean, they suck so much bad and for like 13-16 years
they are doing crapy shows and releasing shity albums
and fans still seem to like them
well, thats retarded.

And personally, I think their first 4 album sucks to
but I cant argue on that since they are very influential albums and they really did changed Heavy Metal forever.

In Flames Up In Smoke?

In Flames's older stuff is, I think, not half bad. But they had a "nu" period that was totally ridiculous. Nothing from that time is any good. I bought their latest, "Come Clarity", which was suggested to me by my brother, and thought that it was alright,but a little dull.

Personally, I don't get the hype over "Lamb of God". "Ashes of the Wake" had its moments, and I'll agree that LOG helped to get American metal away from Nu mediocrity, but they seem a little on the stupid side to me. Some people seem to think that they're the best modern American metal band, which I think is just insane.

Ah, I forgot to rant about Metallica! Well, they're really overrated, which seems to be an opinion I'm not alone in having. I mean their old stuff was good, but even then it tended to be slower and dumber than some of their contemporaries' work.

For those of you who think that Avenged Sevenfold or Slipknot are overrated bands, you're half right- 'cuz they aren't even bands in the first place if you ask me! A.S. is just a joke. They're morons who drudge up stupid stereotypical "metal" themes to make $$$. Slipknot has about ten members, and they all wear ridiculous costumes, and encourage an almost worshipful dedication from fans. They're more like some sort of cult if anything. A pretty lame one too.

I would say System of a Down, Slipknot, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold atleast. Face it... They are not that good... Also there are some bands in here Finland which you havent even heard of... But they are "big" in here. I mean bands such as Mokoma, Stam1na and Rytmihäiriö are pretty over rated.B'cuz none of the singers cant sing, I would say even Varg from Burzum sounds like 'lil birds after you've heard Rytmihäiriö. Well thats just my opinion.

The most overrated band is, no doubt, Metallica. Nirvana is not even metal, it's grunge rock.
Also, I think In Flames & Ill Nino are overrated as well.
Ozzy Osbourne, on the other side, no matter what you say, he's the man who invented the real Heavy Metal, along with Tony Iommi, who invented the Heavy Metal riffs, and Geezer Buttler's Bass Solos.
Slash's also a bit overrated guitarist. But not Yngwie Malmsteen, he's a real good guitar player :)

I agree. Ozzy is a god, but is so overrated x) There are many metal gods that are not as recognized as Ozzy. And Metallica...well, they were very important to thrash metal, and they have influenced many bands..but they are the most overrated metal band with no doubt. There are many great metal bands better than Metallica that will never be as recognized as metallica..

Metallica is the most overrated. They were good until 1991. Also AC/DC, Guns 'N' Roses (wait...they aren't metal!), but Black Sabbath are gods - they practically invented metal. Seriously, if you're gonna argue, listen to their debut (Black Sabbath - in 1970) then try and argue.

Everybody has ranged at metallica's door, so no point in bashing them, but I'm yet to know how there first 4 albums changed anything, because they didn't, at least I don't think so, the only influence Metallica had was that they presented metal to the masses, period, they didn't add anything to the game, they just got more people playing it, and this was pos-Black Album.
And Marlin Manson is also overrated, he is just an attention wh... who has a hard time writing good songs and the worst Alice minion I have ever seen...

Led Zeppelin. Yes, I KNOW that they're not exactly 'metal' but they caterwaul and throw awful histrionic guitar shapes... so it counts in my book at any rate! Horrible hoary old rock dinosaurs. Robert Plant solo, however, is a slightly more embraceable proposition......some half decent records from him I have to say.

Megadeth is way overrated, doubting they are even metal these days. The voice of Dave Mustaine totaly annoys me!

Agree with boppawombat. Led Zeppelin just ripped off old bluesmen and did re makes of some old folk songs. That's all.
I enjoy them though, but not that much.

Also, Iron Maiden. They're not bad but they bore me, it's not like Bruce Dickinson inventend metal, neither did Metallica, both of them are overrated.

As for the hair metal scene, Mötley Crüe and Bon Jovi (I enjoy their stuff though) but c'mon, most of new "Bon Jovi songs" aren't even metal! and every new hair metal band tries to be Mötley. Europe, I'd rather say Winger, Poison, Cinderella were less credited but better at it
