Practice while standing

Practice while standing

Just this hour, as I have only just got a good guitar strap, I have started to play standing. It feels like a whole new game lol

At first it took me a while to adjust to this but now I think im getting the hang of it. The best part about it is its stoping me from taking the odd look at the fret board. Its also being a huge boast to my confidence as I feel (and look) like the real deal when I look in the mirror :)

So what do other people think about standing or sitting wiht the guitar? Should have I already been practising while standing? Any tips will be helpful too :)

I can't do it propperly because of the ol' broken arm, so I just stick with the chair :).

I always try to play standing but I don't have a guitar strap (yet) which makes it very hard... impossible.

It can be very hard to reach some places on the guitar while standing, and it's generally much easier to sit down and play. I wouldn't recommend you to play the hardest thing you know while standing if you're not a really good guitarist, because the risk to fuck it all up is too high.

But of course, it looks cooler.

When everyone else is standing up, why shouldn't we? I'm used playing while sitting since it really is much easier, but I recommend getting up on two feet because that's the way most will do if they'll even climb on stage. It's will be a bit harder, but after you've adjusted the guitar and yourself to the right position, it will be much more rewarding. And that's the easier way to hit Star Power. :p

Every song I learn sitting down, I have to relearn standing up, since I have my strap down really low.

So I do scales, exercises and etudes in my chair, but whenever I'm learning songs, or writing music, I do it standing up.

i love playing the guitar while standing even tho its a bit more difficult. i also have a way hard time trying to read my music cuz i dnt hav a stand so it far away. damn tiny print...
