Anyone using this to find new stuff? Or even better, have an opinion on recommendation accuracy between last.fm and pandora.com?

Haven't listened to pandora very much at all lately, but for a brief period of time I was listening to it quite a bit.

During that time, I had pretty good luck finding some groups that I liked, but it seemed like there was a pretty limited set of artists that matched the narrow portion of the genre spectrum that I was looking for at the time.

I know they keep adding new stuff, but depending on what kind of music you're looking for you are kind of at the mercy of what they have available to listen to.

As far as pandora versus lastfm, I like them both. They seem to cover each other's blind spots to minor degree. Haven't tried very hard to compare them though, so I can't really qualify how much they differ.

I feel like in the long run, Pandora is more accurate. But that's probably because it's got a very easy to use thumbs up, thumbs down, and bookmark this artist system. Last.fm seems to function more like Amazon's system, of recommending things people who like similar albums listen to. I definitely get more "surprises" out of Pandora, albums and bands I've never heard of. Whereas the Last.fm reccs are more things I've heard of, but haven't given a chance yet.

There's a Firefox plugin that will scrobble your Pandora to last.fm. It's called Harmony, it's still in pre-release, but if you make an account on the Mozilla page it will let you download it anyway. Just don't run Flashblock.

I personally use Last.fm just as a personal music cataloging service and for some minor recommendations. But when I'm looking for new music, I stick with Pandora. I'd never have known about The Cribs if not for Pandora. Not that it's perfect.
