I get mine from a p2p program, Ares, and Limeware, although limeware sucks, and the japanese techno and electronica thread on batsu.org

Soulseek for the mp3s, random online articles that mention people I like and people I don't know for new bands.

I use Soulseek, it's supposed to be the best music sharing program although some artists are rarely found such as Miho Folio - who has her album, send to me please ~ ~

If you want to actually BUY music, here are some suggestions, although some of these will kill your budget on shipping charges if you're in the U.S.:

    eBay

The best, and most fun way is to just go to the record shops! I can spend entire days wandering from music shop to music shop in Tokyo (Shinjuku-ku and Shibuya-ku). The stores are so well organised that you can pretty much listen to clips from any CD that's available in the store by scanning its barcode at a listening station. Taipei is another good city for music shopping, if you know where to look.

  • http://amazon.co.uk is a good source. SO much better than amazon.com - American corps just don't appreciate good music. Psyshop.com is good too. emusic.com doesn't completely stink. Actually though, to get the really good stuff I have to travel to Europe or know people who do. FInd the ethnic stores in your neighborhood. Soulseek is the only P2P where the users have decent taste in music, but hey, it is stealing. I play music I have obtained legally and I pay royalties on what I play.

If you are ok with legal downloads you should definitely check out HearJapan. We are a digital music store that only sells Japanese music in MP3 and we have a lot of electronic music! Here's a direct link to the electronic selection:

I saw people mentioning soulseek and while I love soulseek, I find that it doesn't always have most of the asian indie music I want to find.
