    Unknown Pleasures or Closer?

In your opinion, which album is the better, Unknown Pleasures or Closer? It's hard, I know. I'll try to keep the score, and we'll see which album gets the most votes!

I'll have to go with Unknown Pleasures, it's just fantastic.

  • Wow, that is really hard. But for me Closer is even better than Unknown Pleasures. I love Unknown Pleasures though, of course.

  • Closer.
First loves are hard to concour.

I'm quite surprised to be honest, I've always felt that Unknown Pleasures is the superiour album. Neverthless the score is so far:

    Closer: 4
    Unknown Pleasures: 1

  • I have to agree with Music0. I prefer Unknown Pleasures, it's a brilliant album.

I'm pretty sure that Unknown Pleasures is better. Songs are maybe a little bit catchier.

    I think that's exactly it:
Because Closer is more Raw and hard to swallow I like it so much.
It's ideas poured into music, not thinking of how people would take it in.

How about both? In my opinion Joy Division have never written a "bad" song. Both albums just fit perfectly together.

But I know you want me to choose, so I'll pick Unknown Pleasures. The sound is just so frantic, so intense.

Again, I rank both albums equally good.

  • Closer...this LP is my number 1 of all 80's music. And in first 10 of all time records.

Unknown Pleasures if you want to dance.
Closer if you want to kill yourself.

Seriously though... Unknown Pleasures used to be my favourite because of some of the great catchy songs... but I think Closer now wins out. It's truely an amazing thing to sit and listen to.

Speaking of listening to albums... All Joy Division should be listened to on vinyl when possible =)

both are great, but I'm going to have to go with 'Closer' as it was the album I wore out during my foray into JD's music.

  • Closer! Closer! Closer!
Does that count as three votes? :)))

    i agree

  • Unknown Pleasures.

  • It's got to be Unknown Pleasures. One of the greatest pieces of art ever made.
I agree with Koeone above. Vinyl and a good set of headphones is the listening source to really experience this album.
