One single piece is extremely hard, but if I have to choose just one I'll go with Johan Helmich Roman's Drottningholmsmusiken.

Toccata and Fugue (closely followed by Hungarian Rhapsody no.2)
    as of now that is

  • I have barely scratched the surface of the amount of classical music there is, although I've listened to classical quite a lot the past year. So this is what I've come to really love (above all) so far:

Rachmaninoff's piano concerto #2 (first and second movements especially)
Richard Wagner's prelude to Tristan & Isolde.
Niccolò Paganini's Grande Sonata, MS 3: Allegro risoluto.

I'm definitely going to keep track of what people are mentioning here though. :)

Brahms' Violin Concerto in D Major or Prokofiev's Piano Concerto no.1.

Tell me why world, unfathomable and good, the beauty of everything is infinite, and cruel?
  • Symphony no. 9 in E minor "From the New World" would probably be my favorite. It brings good memories :)

  • Adagio For Strings
