Which artists do you think would be appropriate for this group's artist connections?

Wonderful idea for a group! I'd recommend adding following artists to the connections:

Vangelis - his work on various film scores is amazing. Blade Runner soundtrack comes to my mind first and foremost.

Cliff Martinez - likewise, his work on various film scores is really wonderful. Solaris soundtrack is one of his most beautiful works.

Sigur Rós - this group creates truly mellow and drifting soundscapes, which I'd describe beautiful.

Jonn Serrie, Steve Roach, Biosphere - three wonderful ambient artists/projects.

Project Divinity - Frozen SIlence - Celestial Aeon Project on Jamendo.com

Um, how about adding Koichi Sugiyama? He has composed beautiful music for the Dragon Quest gameseries.

And Zero 7 is really good too...

Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Dreamend, and The Album Leaf are all very beautiful

One Dove - you can see it in the tags and I've said it in the shoutbox, but yeah they make beautiful, spacey trip-hop music combined with perfectly suited female vocals. Highly recommended.

bôa - british alt rock band that have produced some stunning songs worthy of being added.. a lot of their material features string work

Brad Fiedel - you might scratch your head at this one, but some parts of his Terminator 2 work are genuinely moving and could easily be considered beautiful pieces of music

I think it is difficult to compartmentalise certain artists for specifically producing "Beautiful" music. I rather think that "Beautiful" music is that which can be found by artists in diverse genres - unexpected moments that move us at a harmonic or for others a musically spiritual level. A texture, combined in a harmony or a series chordal intervals can produce a powerful and moving expression of beauty and pure musical forms.

Suggested artists...

Robert Fripp - some of his applications of "Frippertronics" are albeit unusual but pure and beautiful, such as Water Music I from the album "Exposure", which leads into Peter Gabriel singing, "Here comes the Flood".

Craig Armstrong - lots of emotive film music but check out "This Love" from the album "The Space Between Us" (also used for the film, "Cruel Intentions").

Mark Isham - another sound track from the film "Mrs Soffel" on the "Film Music" album.

I hope to cite more examples at a later time. Hope you all find these applicable to the Group's taste.

I discovered Frozen Silence yesterday and it's so beautiful!! The only different artists I can think of at the moment are Vienna Teng, Flowers from the Man Who Shot Your Cousin (dont make a judgement on the name), and Jeff Buckley.

Max Richter definitely should be added. His music is beauty itself. Blending ambient and classical music he creates great emotional melancholic sceneries, that touch to the innermost of your heart.

Ashram - Italian neoclassical band. Very talented, very beautiful. Amazing romantic stuff.

In the Nursery - Soundtrack-like new age/ambient music. Dimensioned and atmospheric.

I don't know... there are so many artists that could be called 'beautiful', and every man can consider different music as beautiful. Won't this group become somewhat indefinite?
