Description :
Main idea: The artist should choose how they want their music distributed. They can ask for full price, a small price, a fans chosen price or make it free. They don't deserve to be held for ransom...

This is not a far right "lets hate everyone who illegally downloads music" group. Instead this group is for promoting alternatives to using illegal download sites and pirating music. Even for discussing why people maybe attracted to using it (that means you can join just to explain your side of the argument).

Anyone is welcome to join as long as you have some opinions to share with us.

Your not welcome to join if you are here to simply abuse and upset people just to get reactions. All such posts will be deleted and may result in a ban.

Perhaps the main idea of this group: The artist should choose how they want there music distributed. They can ask for full price, a small price, let the fans choose a price or just give it away for free

They don't deserve to be held for ransom by the pirates or fans.

Gee thank you! I realise most of the points have already been made in the other group so sorry if they’ve been raised again. It’s also mighty depressing when you realise that the only way musicians can now hope to earn a significant amount of money from what they do is by participating in live events and things that don’t involve the use of the internet (if there are any). Live music seems to be the only speck of hope as it is the one thing that can’t be replicated by sitting at home in front of a big fancy home cinema system or what have you. If musicians are supposed to sit back and “accept that illegal downloading is a fact of 21st-century life” then what exactly can they do (other than appeal for government funding)? If you have anything optimistic to add then please mention it!!

Surely most bands would be against illegal downloading in some way, as it affects almost all of them. For a start they lose out on a colossal amount of money that they would normally have been getting say twenty years ago. It's hard to know whether you can judge an artist on their opinions on this matter, because some may only care about the money they're losing out on. Some though, may see it as a lack of dedication on the part of a large proportion of the country's population.
