The heaviest/most aggressive ska band in the world.

It all started with Operation Ivy, the band that first mixed upbeat happy hardcore punk like 7 Seconds and Gorilla Biscuits with positive lyrics into good old ska music.

That became a whole new breed of ska-punk with bands like The Code, The Suicide Machines, The Flatliners, Assorted Jelly Beans, etc.

There is ska-core like Against All Authority, Broken Nose, A Billion Ernies, The Disadvantaged, Molotov Compromise, Evil Empire, Voodoo Glow Skulls, UNITED SKATES, etc. They produce a mix of hardcore punk and third wave ska which results in the skacore genre.

But what if a band came along and pushed the anger in ska music even further? We would get something along the lines of metalcore influenced France ska band Black Sheep, or possibly the deathska/crust of Atrocity Solution, Broken Culture, that good old Choking Victim pioneered.

There are only a few straight up Ska-Metal bands I know. Public Access are so aggressive that you might just call them metallic hardcore with horns. You can't even find a hint of punk rock in a band like Random Hand. They have played ska music but with more of a metal influence. I mean, just listen to the heavy metal trimmings in a song like Anthropology

What would you consider to be the most aggressive, fast, angry, pissed off, and metallic ska band you've ever heard?

  • nice topic
the most heavy music with some ska in it for me would be Leper from Canada.
heavy metallic ska-core bands like Body Bag and Swagman from Switzerland should be mentioned here.
talking about speed - Lesdystics is fast.

*Black Sheep is from Belgium, not France)

My bad... I just thought they were French because they were on Beer records.

and Body Bag is amazing, just weren't thinking of them at the moment. Mouth Sewn Shut is great. They are more of a crust band with a little bit of ska trimmings than a straight out skacore band though.

  • I have know Idea Shawn, but ahhh lets get high Nukkah!

HEH HEH AND FOLLY WAS SILLY

"Fuck Your Street Spirit." - Ruben Polo
  • The Flaming Tsunamis opened the skacore door for me, and the "Fear Everything" LP is a pretty perfect example of what you're describing. Folly was extremely silly, but super awesome, nonsensical lyrics aside.

This Is A Stick Up brings the heavy skacore pretty hard. Though their newer material (there's a demo CD-R they've been selling at shows lately) is ska-less other than the horns, their "Cartography" EP is a powerful slab of ska-influenced hardcore. It's available for download at http://www.openhandrecords.com

  • The Flaming Tsunamis for sure. Paranoia Dance Party! are pretty heavy, but they've always seemed kind of silly to me.

Mad Caddies was my first (yeah, not angry at all) third wave band.

I like a lot AAA, with voodoo glow skulls, it's my favorite aggressive band.

Let's keep this thread alive shall we?!
$up could be pretty metal. That dollar sign doesn't half make it difficult to find info on em on the internet tho. Critix and Jodie are good.
And really, how has no-one mentioned Capdown in here yet? You can't go wrong with a bit of Faith No More and Pound For The Sound. NO! FACK! IN'! WAYYYYYYYY! :D

  • those 2 tracks from both, $up and capdown you mentioned, spectating, are my absolute favorite tracks by both bands too!! but i dont think, those bands count to "the most aggressive ska bands in the world"..

if you dont know em you should check out BOX TACTIC !!! (angry-ska, of course;))

I wasn't a fan of Folly at all. :> I just didn't like the whole post-hardcore mix and sounded way to cliche. But Leper is probably my favorite if we're talking about heaviest with ska hooks. You guys should check out Real Reggae. Powerviolence with reggae influences and ska hooks. Le Scrawl and Cause For Effect are both grindcore bands who incorporate a lot of ska hooks into their music along with jazz and swing.

  • From The Cradle To The Rave is so fucking sick. They mix dubstep and crack rock steady.

Body Bag is fucking sweet and no one mentioned Leftover Crack?

  • Oh shit. You guys still kept this thread alive even though I deleted my old account. Nice choices! AAA, $up, Flaming Tsunamis.
