The album that changed my musical taste, no matter how bad the album is, is Metallica's self titled or the "Black Album". Not that I listen to Metallica anymore.

And, a more recent couple, 65daysofstatic's "One Time for All Time" and Sigur Rós's "Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust". Both great albums and both albums changed my musical taste.

The first albums that changed my life were Hybrid Theory and Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water.
There basically introduced of to music (prior to that i was listening to trance and other shit).

A year later (when i was around 14 years old, 5 years ago), i discovered De Miisterys Dom Sathanas (Mayhem) and Collective Demise (Salem).
These two albums introduced me to two metal genres and changed the whole course of my life. From then on, it's all history. :)

I became a musician, made other new friends, even behave differently (in a good way).

  • Nightwish - Once
Mors Principium Est - The Unborn
    Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
    Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head

Music can't change the present or the past, but it can certainly change the future. Look at the beatles or jaco pastorious. Music before them was different, they influenced other musicians to create other music.

Imagine if you asked the girl you had a crush on 10 years ago instead of just sucking it up and forgetting about her? One little thing changed the entire course of your life forever.

Music probably did that to every single one here just as well.

They're more albums that marked an evolution my musical tastes (chronological order):

Stay Hungry - Twisted Sisters (I was 5, it was my big brother's, don't ask)
A Night At The Opera - Queen
    my dad's oldies Time-Life collection
Best of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds
Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs - Derek And The Dominos
Raw Power - Iggy Pop And The Stooges
I Am A Bird Now - Anthony And The Johnsons

    Hopefully, they'll be more...

What exactly does that expression mean, 'friends with benefits?' Does he provide her with health insurance?

This album showed me that there should be no boundaries in music and that being experimental can pay off and even a record apparently disjointed can be cohesive. My music taste broadened immensely after I heard this album.

    Hybrid Theory
I listened to this album at least once a day for at least the whole of year 9 and maybe even a bit of Year 10. Before this I had hardly payed any attention to music, but this album got me interested.

The Field - From Here We Go Sublime
Boards of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children
The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger
    Frou Frou - Details
Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold
    Stan Getz - Getz/Gilberto

I would say that these albums have impacted my tastes in music the most, and I would go as far to say that it has influenced how I perceive the world (more so with Lupe Fiasco and Atmosphere.)

Edit: How the hell could have I forgotten O.K. Computer by Radiohead?
