Although it may have started out as a modest night of Aussie music on a local farm to welcome in the New Year, the Falls Festival has become one of Australia’s largest outdoor festivals, spread over two locations and featuring both local and international bands.

The first Falls Festival took place in 1993 - albeit under the moniker Rock Above the Falls - when a local Lorne surfer decided to open his annual New Year’s Eve farm party to a few thousand others. Throw in some of Australia’s hottest bands at the time and a festival was born.

Throughout its 14-year history, The Falls Festival has kept on expanding. As band line-ups built, ticket demands sky-rocketed; so much so that promoters extended it into a two-night affair and in 2003 added a sibling Falls in Marion Bay, Tasmania.

I wish the blow up doll made a surprise come back at Midnight NYE!

I was lucky I was pretty in front and could see SoKo and Lykke Li (and Lehmo!) perfectly. Didn't see a damn thing at The Dodos though.

Last year the Tent's stage was double the height and was fine to watch the bands there. I have no idea what they were thinking this year. Totally shit to watch any band unless it when djs were playing.

haha Lehmo.. that was sooo funny. Poor bastard.. I loved Sam's song. The Hives were easily one of the best bands there. Also the Dodos went off. The tent in general was shit though unless you got to the very front. Terribly set up!

At least Sam Simmons was quite amusing! Well maybe it was me but I think his dry and horrible jokes are quite amusing! Oh and then you had the Blue Juice 'homosexual' dancers ;) Another fantastic highlight!

haha missed lehmo unfortunately but a mate had some video footage of the show, he seriously crashed and burned haha. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Hives, Mystery Jets were three of the best in my opinion.

Haha I just caught the end of Lehmo as I was escaping the insane weather and just had to laugh. I hope he had to pay for that spot because he deserved nothing :) On a serious note Late of the Pier were bloody amazing with Mystery Jets and The Hives coming close behind. Overall I had an absolute ball.
