Placed firmly under the sign of rock, French chanson and world music, the 2003 edition welcomed the 3 millionth festival-goer to the Nyon event. With an exclusively African programme on the Dôme stage, this 28th edition also witnessed the inauguration of the Village du Monde, a new project devoted to the promotion of music and culture from other parts of the world. From 22 to 27 July 2003, the 200,000 spectators who filled the Asse festival site were able to take part in some great musical moments from the likes of R.E.M., Massive Attack, Alanis Morissette, Renaud and Zazie as well as discovering the talents of DuOud, Hasna El Becharia and Ba Cissoko.
