Your son clearly hasn't listened to enough Yo La Tengo.

Guess I was approaching Yo La Tengo from the point of view of someone who has downloaded a bunch of their shorter, more melodic songs and had no idea of what to expect live. It was like they played a 'fans only' gig, when they could have done a catchy 20+ songs set...but, hey, glad you lot enjoyed it!

When it comes to Yo La Tengo I thought they were awesome. The people attending EotR is probably not the right crowd for their more guitar heavy noise rock songs though. I thought the end of "I Heard You Looking" was something of the best I've ever seen live.

I saw Modest Mouse in London last week and of course it's always gonna be a better show than at a festival. Not that much of a difference though. I have to agree with Schayzelden that their poor setlists nowadays prevents you from enjoying their sets fully. I thought they were great but so far from their full potential. They seem to exclude almost every song they have in their repertoire that is good live. They played The Whale Song though which is great and we got Cowboy Dan and Dramamine out of the older stuff. Spitting Venom was alright to.

I saw Modest Mouse in Liverpool last week, the contrast between that show and EOTR was really noticable. Isaac put so much emotion into his set in Liverpool, he was jumping all over the stage, getting really into each song, at EOTR he just...well, he just stood and played really, he seemed to be doing what he had to do, rather than something he wanted to do. Having said that, I did enjoy their set regardless, and it was great to see Cowboy Dan live. I thought Yo La Tengo were great, they didn't really communicate with the crowd at all, but that didn't matter, they played a typical Yo La Tengo show. They are a lot different live to on record, I guess it just depends if you like that kind of thing...

A 26 minute version of Pass The Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind is exactly what you want from a Saturday night headliner

Sorry, but I thought Yo La Tengo were pretty dull - am i the only one?? Don't get me wrong, I love them on record, but they emptied the place - not what you want from a Saturday headliner really. The biggest disappointment of the weekend for me...but, sod it, loved the rest!

Amazing. Just as good as last year if not better. For me, Moddi were the main highlight but that's cus I spoke to him about a hundred times; other highlights for me were Joe Pug, Iron & Wine, Elliott Brood, Phosphorescent... Charlie Parr was a lot of fun, I had "a moment" when he played "Cheap Wine". Meeting the organist/violinist of the Low Anthem and getting a free CD of his own stuff was pretty brilliant too! Cannot wait for next year, need to get Moddi back so more people can hear them!

Yo La tengo were amazing. They had such a small crowd at the end though and a lot of people were talking in their set which was very annoying.

Adam Green was amazing, so glad I took time out of Wilco to see him, HIGHLIGHT!

Definitely agree on the Wilco part, I'm not a fan anyway but I could only bear one song before I headed out into the disco in the woods! That said, everyone else was incredible, especially Ólöf Arnalds, The Wilderness of Manitoba, and the Mountain Goats. Fantastic weekend!

Such a brilliant weekend. Allo Darlin on the Thursday, Mountain Goats on the Friday, Iron and Wine and Yo La Tengo on the Saturday and Antlers on Sunday being just some of my personal highlights. Oh and that Yuck gig in the woods was so absolutely gorgeous. I loved the first half hour of Wilco but then was a bit disappointed from there on.. I didnt really dig his choice of songs or their execution for the last hour. But different strokes etc.

@Bartolone - Totally agree mate, my love of Wilco stems from the Uncle Tupelo days. I could never tire of seeing them live. But your right if we all liked the same thing it would be a boring world. Different strokes and all that...

@freak76 Well it's hard for me to figure out someone who finds Wilco boring live, but in Italy we use to say "World is beautiful because it's various", so I respect your point of view, of course.
