I wasn't able to stay too late. I had to leave for, the soon to be shut down, Hard Fest. Because of this, I missed Nas and Damian Marley and everyone else that went up after The Roots.
I'm not much of a fan when it comes to hip-hop and rap. There are very few artists I actually like in the genre and I wasn't planning to have a particularly good time.
That being said I've known of The Roots for a while now and, while I liked their stuff, I never really paid too much attention to their music. I was looking forward to their performance but had no idea just how good it would be.
The Roots blew me away. ?uestlove was rocking out on the drums but Captain Kirk stole the show with a face melting solo that will be forever engraved into my brain and left me stunned for several minutes. I am certain that the solo was under appreciated in a stadium filled with hip-hop fans but for those of us into the rock scene, it was a sight to behold. The entire band was excellent at giving the stadium a performance. …
