Death Cab for Cutie is a band that, up until last night, was one of the few bands that I still had yet to see live in person. I am happy to report that their show did not disappoint. A warm summer night at Red Rocks is hard to beat by itself; fortunately Death Cab for Cutie only added to the experience. The sound was phenomenal, and they played all my favorite songs. The light show was a little underwhelming, but the energy in Ben Gibbard's dance steps more than made up for it. Death Cab at Red Rocks is pretty much at the top of my list of favorite shows.
I was a little nervous about seeing Andrew Bird live again. Prior to seeing Death Cab, I had seen Andrew Bird as an opener at a Devotchka concert - an experience I did not particularly enjoy. His act was not nearly as bad as I remembered, but I have a hard time enjoying the oddly-placed whistling pieces in his songs.
