Tue 9 Sep – R.E.M., Editors, The Disciplines

I have to admit I was there more over Editors than R.E.M. And Editors sure showed what they're capable of. Tom's voice worked surprisingly well live, Russel and Ed had a blast and Chris pulled things off nicely even if his fingers were freezing. He kept rubbing and blowing them between songs to keep them warm LOL. It wasn't THAT cold even if it was raining all day. The grey and rainy weather was a nice addition to Editors' set though.

They mostly played stuff from "An End Has A Start" but we did hear a few songs off "The Back Room" as well not to mention a few b-sides. The b-sides were "You Are Fading" and "Open Up" but please proof me wrong if I indeed am wrong about them.

R.E.M. gave us a great gig with an almost completely different setlist compared to the one they gave us a few years back. This one was rock all the way. They even joked about playing a few rarities. …

    IAMX; Fri, November 21st, 2008.
I went with mancrushkeanu, and boy, was this a violent affair (i.e. I loved it). A couple of words about I Was A Teenage Satan Worshipper, though. They were intolerable, and after their stint I heard someone in the audience say, "See, I told you they're better live!" If that's the case, one thing I know for sure is that I really don't want to hear these guys on record.

A bit surprisingly, IAMX kicked off with Bring Me Back a Dog, a song I love but that's really gloomy. Their set was impeccable, and I think songs of Kiss + Swallow work a lot better live. The one more thing I could have hoped for was Missile, but it wouldn't actually have fit into the context at all. Definitely the dirtiest, rawest gig I've been to, meaning the energetic-as-fuck live show and the crowd behavior (a**holes!). Loved it so much, hurt like hell afterwards. The music's always been like a drug to me and now I got to enjoy its full potential. Janine is a lovely example of how less is more in terms of nudity. …
