ULRICH SCHNAUSS

If you mix shoegaze, beep and Tangerine Dream, you get the wonderful Ulrich Schnauss, who has been quietly gathering up devotees for a number of years.

Ulrich, under his own name and a variety of pseudonyms, has been cutting incredible records ranging from all-out techno to drum 'n' bass, before settling into his own wonderfully peculiar electronic groove.

While many electronic composers thrive on being machine-like, Schnauss has allowed elegant, human emotion into his work, making records that have that fragile, eerie heartbreak of the Cocteau Twins, as well as the psychedelic ticks akin to Boards of Canada.

His new LP, ʻA Long Way To Fallʼ, is out on January 21st 2013, and the NME have referred to him as an "all-round genius" who makes "music as big as the oceans".Ulrich Schnauss
