James Blackshaw

James Blackshaw performs celestial and spirit-lifting guitar-led compositions, mainly playing on 12-string acoustic guitar. Meditative in quality, cinematic in scope, his music spirals gracefully across complex patterns, motifs and harmonics.
With an extensive back catalogue on labels like Young God Records, Tompkins Square and Important, and having collaborated recently with Hauschka, Current 93 and Nancy Elizabeth, he has developed a unique style of Takoma school finger-picking blended with contemporary classical composition and post-rock dynamics.
James arrives in Reading to play in support of his new album Love is The Plan, The Plan Is Death, which is released on Important Records in April 2012.
