Fri 10 Feb – Jeff The Brotherhood, Hound, push ups, Bad doctors

JEFF the Brotherhood headlined a show at the Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art this past Friday (2/10). Openers included Philly locals Push Ups, Hound, and Bad Doctors.

Push Ups, at first, reminded me a heavier Dag Nasty with some Henry Rollins-esque vocals. As their set progressed, they became even edgier, and more reminiscent of bands like Void and others from the DC hardcore scene in the 80s. Their final song blew the entire crowd away. Doom and gloom filled the room as the band laid down one of the hardest breakdowns I’ve ever heard. It felt like they had somehow combined Black Flag’s “Nothing Left Inside” with equal parts Black Sabbath’s “Children of the Grave.”

Next up was Hound. "Black Sabbath, Metallica, Danzig, Thin Lizzy...all bands better than Hound” is how they describe themselves. This three-piece brought it, playing songs from their six-song demo.
