Prog-rock pioneers THE MARS VOLTA are known to send audiences into a frenzy and their upcoming headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide this August will be no exception.

The Grammy winning Texan ensemble, fronted and founded by guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala in 2001, are renowned for their crucial role in the development and popularity of the prog-rock genre through their five standout releases which have spawned captivating tracks such as ‘Wax Simulacra’, ‘Viscera Eyes’, ‘Cotopaxi’ and more.

The band’s epic musical odysseys are filled with curveballs and explosive interludes and their live shows are meticulous and impulsive, showcasing their colossal material with a relentless energy and thrilling spontaneity that many fans and critics can attest to.

    @colourofsleep: I couldn't quite make out what he was saying. Can you paraphrase? I think I caught the word "iPad" but I could be mistaken... The vocals seemed pretty overpowered in general, which was a shame.

    Ah, I see. This discussion is ringing a bell actually, it might've said there was a support on previous tour tickets even though there wasn't one. All I know is past history tells us that usually, at the most all they have is an opening DJ for about an hour and then Volta play a good solid long set. But as this a Secret Sounds/Splendour deal I guess it could be different. I guess we'll know on the night :)
