Sidsel Marie has travelled far and wide in the musical landscape. She grew up hearing The Who, The Beatles and Cream. Early in her teenage years she gained inspiration from Sheryl Crow, Rickie Lee Jones and Radiohead. Later on she became interested in jazz and made her way through all genres queens from Billie Holiday to Ella Fitzgerald.
Today Sidsel Marie is almost back to where she started. Back to the girl and her out-of-tune guitar. Back to bell chimes, background noise, More...hand clapping, mouth harp and boxes with things that rattle. Back to what for Sidsel Marie is music’s core: the story it wants to tell.

"Celebrating an Imperfect Life", her debut album, is an unpolished mix of country, lo-fi and folk pop. The songs describe both complicated, everyday relationship dramas and female control freaks, who try to juggle career and the ideal of the modern woman.
Sidsel Marie wrote the songs over the past two to three years. All express her mission – namely to remind people of the value of a genuine and honest life as well as offer a simple, raw sound:
“I’ve always been drawn to things that were off beat or different. I like music most when it’s raw and fragile. I value a battered guitar that’s out of tune and unpolished vocals without too many unnecessary phrases that complicate the picture.”
