Airbourne are a band I’ve seen twice before, and they always provide good entertainment. This was still the case, but there was something missing this time for me. Maybe the arena was the wrong venue – certainly it gave very little opportunity for frontman Joel O’Keefe to climb all over everything like he usually does. I also found it interesting that whilst the backdrop claimed the show to be part of the world tour for their second album, only three of nine songs were from that album, the remainder being drawn from the first one.
I think it may be the case that Airbourne need to take a bit of a break from the UK, and maybe come back when they have a third album ready to go. Then again, I’m probably going to see them at Wacken next weekend and they’ll probably be better at a festival. Who knows?
If Airbourne had something missing, Iron Maiden certainly did not. …
