Thu 7 Jan – City and Colour, Lissie

The opener Lissie, aside from being easy on the eyes, had some amazing music to share with us. She plays the type of folk rock inspired by the 70's (that you really can't go wrong with by playing) -- Fleet Foxes by way of Fleetwood Mac comes to mind. Her Midwestern voice, slightly husky, slightly irritated (probably by the cigarettes she admittedly smokes) was on point all night. She was joined on stage by some goofy looking nigga on guitar, who initially seemed to be playing just some standard shit but by the end of the night started busting out some nice solos. The other guy, who my friend described as "Jesus on bass" (who played drums simultaneously) was puttin in work too. And Lissie herself did a great job, putting in some emotional effort but having fun and being giggly at times too. Solid little band, I'll be keeping my eye on them in the future.

Dallas Green is a truly entertaining guy. He's definitely one on those singers that sounds even better live than on CD. …
