Featuring members of Neurosis, Isis, Angel Hair, The VSS and Halifax Pier. Red Sparrows is great for fans of the post rock instrumental crowd. While we have some heavy psych rock feelings, there’s also a hint of influence from Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine. After not listening to music for almost a week, Red Sparrows has me listening to, and wanting, slow burn-ish type of instrumental rock that is as equally beautiful as it is disturbing. The sum total of its sound, however, stems more so from esoteric melodic guitar-surrealists of the mid-80’s Blast First and Too Pure hive than the fierce realism of the aforementioned cabal of heavy-psych rock. In other words - Influenced by the more technical/layered side of Mogwai (than other similiar bands ala Mono/Explosions In The Sky) who can explore space well without pedal stomping. Neurot Recordings.
